San Francisco Bay Area Dance Movement is a live music and dance community that I founded on October 4, 2020. Due to the rise of COVID, events in the Bay Area were all getting canceled and a handful of long-time venues had to close or change ownership to continue. After a while of missing events and the fun environments they would cultivate among strangers, I wondered if we could start outdoor dance meetups and simply practice social distancing for everyone’s comfort.
Utilizing Facebook and Instagram, we advertised our new community. We started out with just a couple of friends and a small JBL speaker, but have been growing well over the years. Now we have over 100 members in our community across the Bay Area, a collective of WONDERFUL DJs who have passionately been with us through the years since 2021, and many opportunities to perform for our community or do charitable, fulfilling work.
